There are cases where misguided e-mails from the receptionist’s ex-lover spammed other mail boxes; where a female colleague was bombarded with e-mails for an office admirer and the company was held liable.

Even when the content is something to do with your business the lack of polices or indeed badly written policies can have extreme consequences. Just one case involved an office junior agreeing to a 5-year contract for “phone cleaning”. For the same price they could have bought replacement phones every year!
